Claudia Powell serves as the Vice President of Public Affairs for the Planned Parenthood Advocacy Project Los Angeles County Action Fund, bringing more than 21 years of leadership experience in public affairs, community engagement, women’s health advocacy, and reproductive justice.

Throughout her career, she has remained dedicated to advancing health equity, protecting access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health care and education, and empowering communities—particularly communities of color—to achieve better health outcomes and opportunities.

Grounded in a reproductive justice framework, Ms. Powell’s work focuses on addressing systemic health disparities through strategic advocacy, public policy, community education, and cross-sector partnerships. She is a passionate champion for equitable access to health care and has devoted her career to ensuring that historically underserved communities have a voice in the decisions that affect their lives and well-being.

Ms. Powell possesses extensive experience cultivating and managing relationships with elected officials and policymakers at the local, county, and state levels. As a trusted advisor and liaison, she bridges the gap between government leaders, community stakeholders, and mission-driven organizations. Through strategic public affairs initiatives, she has helped advance policies that protect and expand access to reproductive and women’s health care while guiding organizations through complex political and legislative environments.

A recognized leader in community engagement, coalition building, and sexual health education, Ms. Powell has successfully convened diverse stakeholders—including nonprofit organizations, healthcare providers, educators, faith leaders, media partners, and government agencies—to drive meaningful collective impact. Known for her ability to build trust and foster collaboration, she excels at aligning partners around shared goals that prioritize equity, access, and community well-being.

In addition to her policy and advocacy expertise, Ms. Powell has a proven track record of strengthening organizational visibility and credibility through integrated public affairs, community relations, and strategic communications efforts.
